FYC are good at elastomer that is commercially available. This allows us to optimum material for each customer’s application. The rubber materials are as below.
- Nitrile (NBR)
- Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR)
- Polyurethane (PU)
- Silicone (SIL)
- Polyacrylate (ACM)
- Fluoro Carbon(Viton) (FPM)
- Fluorinated Silicone (FLS)
- Ethylene Propylene (EPDM)
- Polychloroprene (CR)
- PTFE (PTFE)

ADVANTAGES | LIMITATIONS | |
Nitrile(NBR) | Most commonly used material. Low cost. Good resistance to petroleum oils, water, silicone oils, greases, glycol base fluids. Good abrasion resistance, cold flow, tear resistance. | Poor resistance to ozone and weather aging. Poor resistance against aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbon. |
Polyacrylate(ACM) | Good resistance to mineral oils, gear oils, greases, aging and flex cracking, ozone. Anti-aging and tearing. Used to high surface speed environment. Higher temperature limit than NBR. | Fair cold temperature limit. Lower mechanical strength. Poor dry running ability, water resistance. Cost is higher than NBR. |
Silicone(SIL) | Broad temperature resistance. Excellent weather and ozone resistance. Resistant to compression set. | Low resistance to hydrocarbon fluids like gasoline or paraffin fluids or steam above 50 psi. Cost is higher than NBR. |
Fluoro Carbon(FPM) | Compatible with wide range of fluids. Excellent resistance to aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbon. Commonly chosen as high temperature replacement of NBR or ACM. | Low temperature resistance is fair. Cost is high. |
The above curves provide our recommended maximum shaft speeds for each of the common lip seal materials.
